Seferian Design Group has earned provincial honours! Breathtaking design and master craftsmanship in landscape construction, maintenance and design projects were recognized at Landscape Ontario Horticultural Trades Association’s Awards of Excellence Ceremony, held January 7, 2020. Over 600 industry professionals attended the gala awards presentation held at the Delta Hotels Toronto Airport & Conference Centre. The Awards ceremony is held in conjunction with Congress, one of North America’s largest green industry events.
The winning projects showed the outstanding levels of craftsmanship attained by Ontario’s landscape industry. That top-notch technical mastery was matched by stunning and sophisticated landscape design. The Awards of Excellence are judged according to specific criteria by industry experts. If no project qualifies in an area, no award is given.

Many exceptional firms have one this award and SDG was honoured to be in such great company. West Sheldon Creek Realignment
Description
Seferian Design Group was retained by the City of Burlington to create a vegetation rehabilitation plan for the West Sheldon Creek realignment. The project involved a natural channel design and implementation of a complex series of wetlands to restore and naturalize a drainage valley system and improve its ecological function to support both terrestrial and aquatic wildlife.
Our team worked with the teams engineers, fluvial geo-morphologists and aquatic biologists designed a natural channel flowing through a residential neighbourhood to restore a valley altered through extensive grading.
Extensive planting of woody and herbaceous materials were used to both naturalize the valley, provide shelter, habitat and food source for local wildlife populations, and to screen the valley from encroaching urbanization. The project required Conservation Authority, MNR and DFO approvals.

Tree Planting Ceremony at the Gardens of Pillar and Post
The property across the street from Pillar & Post, owned by Vintage Hotels, planted it’s first tree to signify the beginning of the installation of a six-acre botanical garden.
What used to be a C&C Yacht club has now been torn down and will soon contain 342 trees, 21,000 shrubs and perennials within the next couple months.
In 2015 Seferian Design Group was retained by Vintage Hotels to design the garden and event space at the Pillar and Post in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The ‘Gardens’ will be located directly south of the current inn and spa and will be bordered by John Street, Regent Street, Anne Street, and King Street.
Our landscape architectural team, worked in conjunction with the architect, engineer, lighting and acoustical consultant to design the Monet-inspired garden space. The space will include paved pathways, lily ponds complete with a pedestrian bridge, lawn spaces for events, a new event building, vegetable gardens, water features that will double as a skating rink, site amenities and furnishings, and lighting. The new space will also host the Vintage Hotel offices and will include a decorative stone wall around the park to allow for public and private access during events. Regent Street will also be closed to traffic and will be retrofitted with granite cobble.
